Life is full of choices, right?
That's nothing new. We make choices in life all the time. What to wear, what to eat, how to speak, what to drink...
But for the entrepreneur it rings very true. Sometimes it feels like all you do is make choices.
Big choices. ALL. DAY. LONG.
Who you'll hire, where you'll spend your energy, how to manage cash flow, pay off debt, play time vs work time (because you could always choose to work harder, right?). Sure, those are all challenging choices.
But I'm not talking about those. I'm talking about the internal choices. The choices that you make inside your head when you react to feedback. The choice to focus on that which is negative or positive. The vision you have for your life, the growth of your company, for possibilities.
I trend towards the sensitive side, and as a result struggle with lingering too long in the negative. The "what's-not-going-right" part of my business. And it can put me in a funk.
So when I stumbled across this handmade bracelet at our local fair trade art gallery on main street last year (pictured above), something spoke to me. I was supposed to be shopping for Christmas presents for friends and family. I guess I chose to buy something for myself.
"Dwell in Possibilities"
It's that little reminder I need (sometimes on a minute-by-minute basis) to choose to dwell in that which is possible.
Or maybe I watched this TV special way too many times and at heart, and we all want a Cinderella story to come true. Because, after all, "the world is full of zanies and fools…who don't believe in sensible rules" (song starts at about 2:50mins).
What do you choose? Where do you find your thoughts dwell? How to you re-route when possibilities are hard to "see" through the challenges of being an entrepreneur?
I'd love to hear your thoughts on possibility in the comments section below.
